Helping Evacuuees from Hurricane Irma
It's kind of funny how God always has a bigger plan for you than you could ever conceive.
When Pastor Edee began the Feeding Families program out of the Mt. Tabor chapel, she had no idea that she would be called upon to feed and shelter people from neighboring Florida and Georgia. Of course, when residents in those states were given mandatory evacuation orders many people fled with little more than the clothes on their backs and with no clear destination except for out of the path of Hurricane Irma and, hopefully, to safety.
At that point what else could we do? We opened our doors to help as many people as we could. We made the best of a scary situation. We shared more than food and shelter; we shared the love, strength, values, and community that we love most about America.
